As always boot demos give you a chance to "try before you buy" and do some proper climbing in a new make/model of shoe before investing your hard earned pennies. Unlike many other manufacturers Tenaya make their range of technical shoes down to very small sizes, so are of special interest to girlies who are unable to get technical shoes small enough to fit.
As well as the boot demo Mike Adams will be running a FREE Masterclass session.
The boot demo will be from 6pm on Thursday 3rd February.

Autobelay

For a trail period The Foundry has one autobelay installed, so even if you don't have a partner to belay you can still have a go at the routes on line 8.This is a trial period only - the autobelay will be in use from now untill the 18th July
There is no extra charge for using the autobelay but before using it for the first time you must complete a short registration form, explaining how to use the equipment safely.

Boreal Boot Demo
Unfortunatly due to their poplularity the Storm have been so sought after by retailers that they haven't yet made it into the demo collection. However there was still a good range of shoes, including the ever popular Joker Lace and Luna and for the higher end climbers the Crux and Falcon.

The Real Thing here on DVD!
CragX has got an exclusive on SIGNED COPIESof the classic bouldering flick, The Real Thing, just released on DVD. According to Tyler Landman it is "The original and still the best bouldering flm ever made." Released on VHS format in 1996 the award-wining movie The Real Thing was the first feature length bouldering movie and played a large part in the popularization of bouldering. Re-released on DVD format for the first time it now includes a bonus retrospective commentary from Ben and Jerry. 13 years on it still remains a classic.
It will be available in all good shops any day but only CragX has copies signed by Ben Moon and Jerry Moffat.

Seasonal Access Restrictions
Information taken from the BMC'c Peak Access Team (6/4/09).
Please be aware that things can change very quickly so always be guided by notices on site, which will inevitably be more up to date.
Stannage - no current restrictions but Ring Ouzels are likely to start nesting at any time
Millstone - currently no restrictions
Ravensdale - Medusa and immediatly adjacent routes closed
Roaches / Hen Cloud - Restrictions signed on site.
Moscar Estate - This covers Derwent Edge, Bamford Edge and the northen part of Stannage (Public Rights of Way are not affected).
Friday 15 May to Friday 29 May (inclusive) - closed
Monday 1 June to Friday 5 June (inclusive) - closed
Monday 8 June to Friday 12 June (inclusive) - closed
Monday 15 June to Wednesday 17 June (inclusive) - closed
Closures notified under s22 on the CRoW Act (2000)
This is a grouse moor and there is an all year restriction in force on dogs at all times.
The major problem for land managers, wildlife and livestock at this time of year is dogs off the lead. Dogs have to be under control on public rights of way, and on a two metre lead between 1 March and 31 July on the moor, or when in the vicinity of livestock. If you do take your dog to the crag, or bouldering, legally it must be kept on a two metre lead. Sometimes the simplest option is not to take the dog.
The volunteers working for the Peak Access Team put a great deal of time and effort into securing access. Please do not jepodise this by ignoring restrictions, especially as there is no sortage of unaffected local climbing.
